My perspective is that us opening up the trading window after the World Series before roster decisions are due unfairly benefits the top teams in the league, including mine in the past couple years. It allows teams to trade for expiring players at the deadline and then get something for them after the season rather than trading for them like a true rental when they are in a playoff run.
I think it would further add to league parity if all trading closed at the trade deadline and didn't open until teams had submitted their roster decisions and we moved onto the next league year. This is how MLB does it, and I'm not sure why we allow it in our league.
Trading closes at the Regular Season Trade Deadline. Teams may not trade players until after team decisions are submitted going into the following year.
Thoughts?

I've been saying this for years. I hate this trade period, it only helps the competing teams.

A couple reasons I think it should stay open:
- More accurately reflects MLB (guys do get traded in that post WS window) - Gives guys another reason to be active and around in that time (less down time)
What if we just made it so expiring players can't be dealt in that period? Because I do agree with you both that it's lame that we can just flip expiring rentals as tag guys to other teams. Feel like that's an way to easily address that.

I think we would start the team decision window immediately following the season. So there wouldn't be downtime at all. Mid-September - BKDB World Series End of September - End of MLB Regular Season First 2-3 weeks of October - Team decision window/Start of Amateur Draft (so there will be a lot going on). Rosters are then rolled over to the next year. End of October - Trading Opens

I like it with Mike's tweak. Expiring deals can't be dealt, but guys on contracts for the next season can.

Would also suggest that team decisions have to be done by the end of the world series which makes this a moot point and rosters can be rolled over right after the world series is done and commence trading again.

Poll added to the top. We can discuss how specifically to do this (if we just prevent expirings from being traded, etc before decisions need to be submitted). This is just a vote to change the rule that allows teams to trade expiring players after the season for something.

If this passes, that means you better already have your Franchise Tag on your roster. I don't think it's just helpful for competing teams.

Okay, moving forward on this. This has been up for a month and will now be the new way of business in BKDB.
New fall schedule will look like:
August - Trade Deadline September - End of Playoffs October - Amateur Draft & Roster Decisions November - Rosters are turned over + Trading Opens January - Free Agency February - International Draft April - Start of Season

Moving forward without a league majority in favor? It's 13-4... with multiple calls for people to vote and put their opinions in. Nothing?

Idk if 5-13 matters, but I meant to vote yes. I think it adds an interesting dynamic that's kinda fun. All for moving them. I thought no meant leave it as is. I changed my vote so it's correctly represented now.
Also, I think you guys get caught up in, oh MLB does this. Does that. Well MLB is in a lockout, let's tear everything down and rewrite our rules (hell no, I'm only making a point). Fantasy baseball is fun, and everything doesn't have to be perfectly aligned with MLB.

Update to this rule... oversight on my part not clarifying it:
After the MLB season is over, a window will open where teams may trade players prior to making off-season roster decisions (extensions, arbitration, team options). Any player can be traded who is UNDER contract for the upcoming season. A player set to be a free agent that winter may not be traded. The window will then close, whereafter off-season roster decisions will be made.
