Nationals trade Marco Luciano 2023 Nats 1st 2023 Nats 2nd 2023 Nats 7th
Royals trade Max Scherzer 2 years, 30 million (22.5 mil coverage in 23’ and 18.5 million coverage in 24)
My pitching staff isn’t shaping up the way I’d hoped it would this offseason. I’m hoping Scherzer’s injury woes last season aren’t a sign of the future but he’s still an ace when he’s on the mound.

I accept. Was really hoping for a bit more for Scherzer but this gives me much needed picks and I’m hoping that Luciano rebounds from a somewhat disappointing season last year.

Approve.
A somewhat similar package got a year of Rich Hill and 3 of Eovaldi earlier this offseason. Roughly a 180 point difference between the projections for Hill/Eovaldi and Scherzer. It’s one fewer pick and no MLB pieces moving the other way with salary considerations, so I think it’s pretty close to that price point.

Weird. You didn’t slide in my DMs. I bet you could’ve gotten better. I accept. Was really hoping for a bit more for Scherzer but this gives me much needed picks and I’m hoping that Luciano rebounds from a somewhat disappointing season last year.

allow. Marco Luciano, batting practice this guy can unload and sting the ball, in games I've seen him off balance when he faces pitchers with a solid curve and decent fastball. When he first signed he had a leg kick that seemed to keep his timing, the leg kick is still there but it's less pronounced and not always the same, however with the improved body control his performance has lagged, I'm guessing the Giants will introduce him to a toe tap, or let him go back to his big leg kick. Either way his power will play and he still looks like a major league hitter. On the field he is slow, although his hands move quickly, I see Luciano as a future MLB 2B that could have a Jeff Kent type of career, but he needs to find more balance in the batters box to realize his potential.
