2025 11th round pick
Jacob Stallings 1 Year, 13 mil (9 mil coverage)
Not feeling great about my backup catching depth and Rutschman took a ball off the hand this week. Stallings is getting some ABs in Colorado. It’s worth dropping 3 rounds for a little depth.

The upshot is the Nats are gaining Stallings and $2.1m of cap in exchange for dropping approx 35 spots from the late 8th to the early 11th round … Wade Miley might be back in 10-12 months if everything goes right … then again he’s 37, and his internal brace procedure remains experimental, ie, it is far from certain that Miley is pitching before the trade deadline next year. That leaves the pick swap and the cap benefit.
For this amount of value going to the Nationals, I would be looking for either just the 8th round pick going to the Sox, or a swap with non-trivial impact, ie dropping from the 3rd to the 6th, etc.

Approve. The surgeon said there's a lot of uncertainty with this injury due to his age. Miley coming back next year is no guarantee. It's fine. In other news, a $13mil deal on Stallings? Am I missing something? Lol
