Hey everyone,
I've decided to bring these back into the league. Here's how they will work:
Each team will have a 40-man roster. 25 players will be on the scoring site. They are: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, 3 OF, 1 UT, 5 SP, 5 RP, 5 BE
You will then get 15 extra spots for players that you want to keep on the team. These players can be anyone.
Team will then only be able to keep players that are not prospects on their 40-man roster.
So you can't demote a Livan Hernandez to the minor leagues. Only players that have yet to have a season with 100 AB or 50 IP can be in your MiLB.
After the 40-man roster setting deadline (sometime in March), players that are not placed on the 40-man roster will go into a new waiver system that we will have. I'll create a rotating waiver order (worst-to-first to start), and teams will move up or down depending on if they add someone.
So there would be a 2 week period for each player that hits waivers. 12 hours for each team to have the choice to claim a player. At the end, if the player is not claimed then the team will have to cut that player but still pay for his contract until the contract runs out or the player is claimed by another team.
Does anyone have any problems or suggestions for this system?
Alex

Yeah,I have a problem with it. I have signed a lot of veterans in free agency. Had i'd known that the rules all of a sudden would change this drastically i would never done that. The rule is fine, but the timeline is off. You should have implemented it before FA signings. This way all my signings go down the drain while i'm still paying for them. Not a real thought-out idea in my opinion.
oh and btw.
this : "They are: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, 3 OF, 1 UT, 5 SP, 5 RP, 5 BE" makes 24 not 25

I understand... what would you think about making it a 50 man roster this year and then decreasing it to a 40-man next year because I didn't give people a lot of time?
Please comment on this guys.

I say dont have 40 man rosters all together...just your 25 man, and then your minors. 40 man rosters make things too confusing...

That's a reasonable compromise. It would give me the sufficient ammount of time to decimate my roster accordingly. Thanks Alex.

No, you get 40 major league players... so you can put 40 guys on your 40-man.
No major league players can go in your minor leagues... but i'm thinking maybe a 50 or 45 man for this year because I gave a really short notice and a bunch of people sign a lotta vets in FA.

If we do decide to use 40-man rosters....I agree with using a 50-man this season (at least early on). This would give each GM ample time to trim down their current roster to fit our new 40/50-man format.

Can we put prospects on our 40 man? And if we cant, when we wanna call prospects up, does the vetran we send down have to clear through waivers?

Prospects can be on your 40-man (50-man for this year). But MLB players can ONLY be on the 40-man, none in the minors... if you wanna bring a prospect up you have to waive a MLB guy or send down a prospect.

Alright, we're having 50-man rosters for the 2012 season. 40-man rosters after that.
