GM's were selected based on the moves they made that improved them from year to year. Consequently, teams that were already powerhouses in the previous year were not considered above teams that came from the bottom to the top.
The 2014 American League GM of the Year:
Mike, GM - Cleveland Indians
This might be a surprise pick... but the Indians were 1-18 in 2013 and had won six games total in the history of Base Knock Dynasty Baseball prior to going 7-12 this past season. There is a belief in this farm system, and coupled with a strong slew of signings and additions, this team rose from the cellar into the land of mediocrity, but nevertheless, it was a great improvement, winning 6 more games than the previous season. Key additions included Corey Kluber, who was this year's Cy Young winner from the American League (someone tell me they saw that coming) and a talented young outfield of Giancarlo Stanton, Dominic Brown, and Eric Young Jr. Look for Cleveland to make a push for the division crown in 2015.
The 2014 National League GM of the Year:
Jeff, GM - Los Angeles Dodgers
I don't think many of us were predicting the 2014 Dodgers were going to go 15-4 and nearly run away with the division that was thought be simply a race between San Diego and Colorado. What a terrific season and job managing by Jeff as he guided this team into major contention. It's definitely a team lacking true stars, but has a clutter of different players who contribute in many different ways to produce success. While the Dodgers record was slightly better than their power ranking position would indicate, there's no reason to believe that the other team from Los Angeles can't be better in 2015 with a solid amount of cap space. Good luck!

Woah, thanks for the selection! I actually added Kluber after the season (it was a deal including Adam Jones). I'm happy with my improvements and I'd love to compete in 2015.

Thanks! Honored to be recognized. But the job is not done. I have a very tough division with San Diego and Colorado and Arizona making their own moves to compete. Have to have another strong FA period in 2015 but I appreciate the recognition for my work in 2014.
