The Twins and Rockies have agreed to the following trade:
Twins Trade:
SP - Francisco Liriano ($17m, 75% covered 2017)
Rockies Trade:
RP - Seth Maness ($4.5m)
P - Taylor Hearn ($300k)
P - Yasel Antuna ($300k)
The rebuild continues in Minnesota by adding some underrated prospects to the system. Taylor Hearn had elite relief potential during his time as a National, but the Pirates pitching staff thought he could make it as a starter which was worked out thus far. As a starter, Hearn sports a 10.52 K/9 and a 2.81 BB/9 in 2017 with a 2.87 xFIP. The Twins see Hearn moving through the Pittsburgh system quickly. Yasel Antuna is a bit of an unknown, but the teenage shortstop from the Dominican Republic signed with Washington for $3.9m last season. Scouts see Antuna as a potential 5-tool everyday shortstop once he breaks into the MLB. Maness could potentially contribute to the Twins bullpen sometime this season, but is currently working his way back to the majors after elbow surgery last season.
