I've been trying to get creative with Bettis's health situation and contract and I found someone willing to entertain it. Bettis will have 3 years left under contract, including 1 year at min. value so he provides the bulk of the value. Weber and Edgin were added in at request to add to the Dbacks depth. Very creative way of negotiating for a SP. Bettis despite his Cancer treatment is hoping to be back to pitching before the end of the season. Even if he doesn't come back this season it gives me an arm for the next 3 years. While I like Santiago his contract runs out after next season and I'm not winning this season. Adding Weber a tripla A SP that killed it in April and a MLB RP in Edgin that's still under a spec deal is what put it over the top for me. Good dealing despite the fact that it was with Will.
