The Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed on the following trade...
Rockies trade: Francisco Liriano ($17m) Walker Buehler ($300k) Jahmai Jones ($300k) Shaun Anderson ($300k) COL 6th 2017
Dodgers trade: Charlie Blackmon ($12.7m) Chris Rusin ($2.1m)
The Colorado Rockies accept. Though the Astros have set the bar high, I want to match it. The Reds are making moves, and I've got to keep the pace, even it means making the farm even more lean. I have starting pitchers to burn, so this move actually helps me not lose points by having pitchers starting while I'm not able to play them. I'll figure out the log jam in the OF later. I also really was looking around for a RP with SP eligibility, those guys are super valuable. Thanks for the negotiations, Scott! This one took awhile to figure out.

The Dodgers accept. It's hard to give up a star like Blackmon but there is no real hope of making the playoffs this year so I'm looking to the future. I really like the prospects I'm getting back in this trade and I think they will be longtime contributors to my success done the road. Good negotiating with you Alex!

Allow. My first thought or reaction was 1 Corinthians 8:9, maybe it's because the Rockies have a bible verse for their signature (just saying it was my first thought, if it fits, it fits, if not it's meant for me). I think that the 3rd highest scoring player that is still under control would go for a better package. Even though on paper it's fair, this is a not a good deal for the Dodgers. I would think that Dodgers should have been able to get more top tier talent than just Walker Buehler. Jones is a top prospect for his team, but isn't quite a top tier prospect in baseball. Shaun Anderson is a top prospect for the Red Sox, but still doesn't profile as a top of rotation type of prospect. Getting a draft pick is nice, but it probably should have been a higher pick just to try and get equal talent. Getting Liriano is fine, he is going to need to get flipped for a nice package to try and make up the value that is being lost on this deal. Since he has a rather large option, it reduces his value to a contender since they won't be able to retain him after this season with out having to budget for his $17M salary. I suppose this is more of an instance of me not seeing Jones and Anderson as top prospects even though they are top prospects for their team. As someone who follows prospect rather closely, I think this is a weak to awful package to receive for a controllable Charlie Blackmon.
This is a great trade for the Rockies. For the Dodgers, it's baseball, so who really knows.

Approve, for one year of Blackmon, the two Top 100 prospects feels right and everything else helps just a bit more.
