Indians accept.

Scherzer's acquisition gives me a true ace to tag with my franchise tag. I like Perez and Espinosa both, but this was too big of an opportunity to pass up. This also allows me to use both of my restriction tag spots with players who I should be able to match on, as well as use my franchise spot to grab one of the biggest potential free agents in the league. This was too sweet of a deal for me to pass up. It's more than a compensation pick, so we both come out better in the end.

Angels accept. Scherzer has been one of the cornerstones of this franchise and a big reason for our sustained success. It's sad to see him go, but our budget simply does not allow for his retention. We wish Mr.Scherzer the best of luck and know that he is going to do great things in Cleveland.

This is strictly to get more than a late 1st round pick as compensation for parting with one of the top elite starting pitchers in all of major league baseball.

We thank Mr.Cuda for the smooth negotiations, although we don't look forward to competing against what he's building over there in Cleveland. Well done sir.
