Rockies confirm.  I was shopping Max Fried around for a star level hitter and decided on Chapman to try and boost my sub-par offense.  He's not quite the hitter I was thinking of, but is so stellar defensively, has great power, and maybe has some more room to grow at the plate? Swapped Longoria who I no longer needed for Richards then to try to get some more relievers on my roster.  Good talks fellow new dad!

Chapman just hasnt been doing it for me. I've held on to him for so long hoping he would develop a better bat - but I think now is the time to move on. I cut some cap space and continue to build a younger core. I also add an ace to my rotation and get a more than serviceable / affordable replacement at 3B. Sad to give up on Richards after all of the draft capital I spent to get him (my one regret in BKDB - this was an awful trade for me), but he seems to be stuck in bullpen barring injuries.
