Hey guys!
My NBA dynasty league has these two features that are really fun. An extra competitive thing every year for minimal rewards... enough to make it worthwhile, but not game-changing if you choose to not participate. Read these over and let me know what you think? I think an adapted version for our context would be fun! The below example is a bracket challenge for the playoffs. They also have one that is similar where everyone picks all the games of the season, week by week. Whoever has the most points at the end of the year gets a prize!

NBA Dynasty League Bracket Challenge
HOW IT WORKS
1.) First we must wait for the NBA Dynasty League regular season to end so we have a confirmed playoff bracket.
2.) You will then have a limited amount of time to send in your brackets. Regular season (which decides how the playoff picture looks) end on FEB 28, and the playoffs start on FEB 29; 7pm ET, so you'll have less than 24 hours to enter the competition.
3.) Brackets must be sent to this account via PM and labeled "NBABracketChallenge" - NBA DL Bracket Challenge
4.) After the deadline to enter the competition passes, brackets will be posted publicly for everyone to see, but not all rounds at once. To make it more interesting, we will release them step by step, so you'll only know how your competitiors picked winners for the round in progress.
How to fill your playoff bracket:
Fill out both the east and west playoff bracket.
The bracket must be done all the way to the finals.
In the end, you are required to enter the score for the finals, which will be used in case a tiebreaker is needed.
Use the example on how to fill out the bracket and send them via PM (LINK).
Entering the finals score is essential - the score is used as a tiebreaker in case multiple GMs have the same final score.
Fair play
You send the bracket and the finals score to an account that only the LMs have - this ensures that everyone plays fairly and that they will not know what winners other GMs have selected. Until the deadline passes, the NBA DL Bracket Challenge account will not be used by anyone, and the mail notifications for private messages have been turned off.
SCORING
There are 4 rounds to the NBA playoff tournament, for each correct winner picked, a player is awarded points based on what round the winner is picked in.
Round 1: 8 games, possible 10 points per game = 80 possible points
Round 2: 4 games, possible 40 points per game = 160 possible points
Round 3: 2 games, possible 80 points per game = 160 possible points
Round 4: (Championship): 1 game, possible 150 points for choosing winner
Total Possible points: 550
Tiebreaker: If multiple teams have tied in terms of number of points after the tournament, the final scores will be used as a tiebreaker. Whichever team is closest in terms of total points scored in the final (Both scores added together, the difference between the predicted and total number of points scored in the championship.)
PRIZES
1st place:
$3 million dollars added to team salary cap (1 year)
one FREE drop for a player with a salary UNDER $3 million (expires after 1 year)
The free drop value of $3 million can also be used on players with contracts higher than that ammount as a deduction to salary value. So for example if you drop a player on a 10M annual salary, cap hits are calculated with a 3M annual deduction, the contract value in this case would then be $7 million per year. If the player is claimed of waivers, you do NOT keep the dynasty bracket free drop clause.
2nd place:
$2 million dollars added to team salary cap (1 year)
3rd place:
$1 million dollars added to team salary cap (1 year)
Good luck to all participants and may the best team win!
