Traveling this week... so not a ton of time... no write ups this week!
Week 13 Power Rankings
Tier 1:
1. Mariners 13-0 – 410 to beat Toronto. This team is insane.
Tier 2:
2. Nationals 13-0 – 458 to lead the league. Looks like they're headed towards a lossless season.
3. White Sox 10-3 – Another win. They look like the biggest threat to Seattle right now.
4. Blue Jays 10-3 – Good try, Stephen. There comes a day for all of us once we're old enough to realize we can't beat Phil.
5. Orioles 9-4 – Can they catch the Jays? First-round bye seems like a long-shot at this point.
Tier 3:
6. Cubs 11-2 – 246 points. Only 6 starts. They need to add an arm to the rotation and have the prospects to do it.
7. Giants 9-4 – The Giants were under 300 points. This is not the team from years past, and they need to be ranked accordingly.
8. Guardians 9-4 – 345 points. Solid week for the Guardians. A win against Chicago in the last month of the regular season would get them back in the AL Central division picture.
9. Tigers 10-3 – Detroit responded with a big week and huge win against Houston to stay in good shape in the playoff picture.
10. Diamondbacks 8-4 – 340 in an easy win against San Diego. Can the D'backs actually knock off the Giants in the NL West? Looking like a possibility if they win the last head-to-head against them.
Tier 4:
11. (13) Dodgers 9-4 – Just 265 points. Need to see more out of this team to see them as a World Series threat. Could they steal the NL West though?
12. (11) Astros 8-5 – A narrow defeat to Detroit is tough in the tight American League playoff picture.
13. (12) Reds 7-5 – Not unexpected to lose to the Nationals, but the Reds are now a full game out of the NL playoff race.
Tier 5:
14. Cardinals 8-5 – 318 points isn't so bad. But Cardinals are still signaling that they're selling, so I wouldn't pick them for the playoffs.
15. Rockies 8-5 – It's a fun story. It'd be an incredibly lucky playoff birth if it happened, but Colorado is somehow tied for the 6th seed with some winnable games left.
16. Angels 8-5 – Barring a miracle. This playoff streak is coming to an end.
Tier 6:
17. Rangers 5-8 – Time to start working on your roster projection for next year, Ahmed. Maybe a good shot at the playoffs.
18. Marlins 5-8 – Same for Travis.
Tier 7:
19. (18) Padres 4-9 – Same for Denver... although maybe more of a likelihood of a rebuild?
20. Rays 5-8 – Same for Alex... but they really need to make the playoffs next year, how long is this going to go on?
21. Braves 4-9 – Same as the Rays... or wait, should Jared tank?
22. Athletics 4-9 – The Oakland A's were 15 points away from a four game win streak. Think about that.
23. Brewers 4-9 – Tim's team is probably more similar to Texas or Miami. Just not playing as well in 2023.
Tier 8:
24. Mets 3-10 - Another day. Another loss.
25. Royals 4-9 – Always a nice day when you can win scoring just 172 points. When will Semien move? I think a deal is close from what I'm hearing.
26. Red Sox 2-11 – Scored 193 points in the loss... do they have something coming into next year? There's some young pitching starting to form here.
27. Twins 1-12 – They probably didn't want to win that game...
28. Pirates 1-12 – Luis Robert is available guys. If this is the first time you're seeing this... hello Derrick.
29. Phillies 1-12 – Good job losing this week, Zach. That's more like it.
30. Yankees 0-13 – They nearly won. Sigh of relief.
