It seems like the way expiring players are valued is pretty heavily weighted by the fact their draft pick compensation currently is also "tradable."
In real MLB, guys who are dealt lose Comp Pick eligibility. Basically suggesting we do the same thing. Think it's a simple fix that could make trade values of expiring players "cleaner."
This isn't some hill I'm trying to die on, but thought I'd kick this around.

We've already removed post-season tag trading (and comp pick trading also, as a result). I don't think it's an issue that needs to be fixed - it gives rebuilding teams far more (and in my opinion, needed) leverage in-season in extracting better value for trades.

Although I agree not a huge issue, something that could be interesting is the idea of a qualifying offer. To get a comp pick you have to offer the QO which would essentially be the opening bid. Qualifying offers could also be applied to restricted tags as well to give those a head start. Just an idea.
