Cy Young Race/MVP Race
Wanted to provide a brief look at the current Cy Young/MVP races as we hit the home stretch of the regular season...
Shohei Ohtani - 718.22 - Boston Red Sox
He gets his own category... absolutely dominating on the mound and at the plate... would be second in MVP voting in hitting alone.
MVP:
1. OF, Ronald Acuna Jr. (635 pts) - Los Angeles Angels
2. 1B, Freddie Freeman (533 pts) - Washington Nationals
3. OF, Mookie Betts (495) - San Francisco Giants
4. 1B, Matt Olson (493) - Seattle Mariners
5. OF, Corbin Carroll (491) - Baltimore Orioles
We probably already have our clear winner. No surprise to see Acuna at the top... will he have a new team for the first time next off-season should the Angels get a new GM? Freeman has been a great acquisition for Washington. Betts scored most of these points for Houston and will now try to lead the Giants to their first championship. Olson is the best player on the best team. Carroll has been incredible as a rookie... historically unreal that he was traded in the middle of that season.
Cy Young:
1. SP, Gerrit Cole (373 pts) - Cincinnati Reds
2. SP, Spencer Strider (352 pts) - New York Mets
3. SP, Kevin Gausman (348 pts) - Los Angeles Dodgers
4. SP, Zac Gallen (345 pts) - Baltimore Orioles
5. SP, Logan Webb (340 pts) - Baltimore Orioles
Gerrit Cole, surprise surprise. Looks like he should take this so long as he is solid the rest of the way. The others could definitely make a push though. Strider is for real if you didn't already believe it. Gausman has shouldered a bad rotation most of the year... Dodgers gearing up for the playoffs. Gallen and Webb and both controllable and fantastic, Orioles have a great 1-2.
