Hi guys,
I just wanted to clear up some confusion regarding extensions:
Extensions are normally based on weighted points, where a player has the highest two point totals of the past three years averaged to create his extension value.
In the case of players who are free agents, but have not played more than 1 MLB season, we will not weight the point totals. That players total points from the single season will be multiplied by the multiplier to get the contract value. There was confusion in thinking that we would weight a players past three seasons, even if one or more of those seasons for the player was in the minor leagues.
Extension formulas may have been slightly off for a couple players the last couple seasons since we adopted this weighted points rule, but have been fixed for this off-season and will be correct going forward.
Thanks for the patience with us as we try to make things run as smoothly as possible.
Alex
