When asked about his teams bumpy road this year, and his plan for the future, Tigers GM Jacob Stalsberg gave hints about a possible rebuilding process: "Yeah, our team has kind of been disappointing this year, our injuries have really piled up, and our pitching has really struggled. I think we might have to make some moves to kind of shake this team up, because were way down in the power rankings. I'm not sure what those moves could be, but with pitching being tough to get, we might go ahead and try to restock our depleted farm system."
When asked whether this meant a full rebuild for the club, Jacob didn't directly say it did. "The team just has been a little disappointing, is all. I feel like we can still contend, I'm just not sure with the pieces people are floating out there for trades if it's enough, or at the right price to get us over the hump. I mean our two best pitchers are sitting on the disabled list right now, really killing this team. We need players like Pedroia and Beltre to really pick it up. I think Howard coming back will be a big boost for this ball club. But if we can't get that major accusition, maybe it's time to start over."
That's all Jacob would tell us about his plans for the future, and now we will have to wait and see what BaseKnockRumors come out. Should make for an interesting trade deadline on the Tigers side of things.
