Power Rankings (Official) Through Week 10 (Mid-season capsules for projected playoff teams + 1st team looking in)
Rank/PrvRk/Team/Points/Record 1.(1) Angels - 3701.9 (10-0) LAA kept rolling along, beating BOS(3) last week in the highest scoring matchup of the week. Injuries have hit them hard all season long, but they've been able to compensate nicely. Phenom M.Trout heads a strong overall lineup that also includes studs Justin Upton, M.Trumbo, Ian Desmond, & Howie Kendrick. Pitching is also a strength. Max Scherzer headlines a rotation that currently includes H.Kuroda, & J.Marquis. As well as the recently activated J.Weaver, & M.Garza. Their bullpen is one of the best in all of baseball with A.Reed, & E.Mujica adding some late game insurance with their closing ability. LAA looks to go to W11 as they take on BAL(11) at home this week. 2.(2) Rangers - 3600.3 (9-1) TEX kept on doing their thing, going to W2 last week taking down TOR(9). This is another team that has sustained several injuries to key players. Even so, their lineup is still getting it done, led by Carlos Santana, & M.Napoli. The bench guys have filled in nicely for the injured stars. On the pitching side C.C., & Latos have anchored a rotation that's quite deep, and has proven that the depth guys are more then capable to fill in when need be. TEX welcomes TB(8) to Texas in this weeks matchup. 3.(3) Red Sox - 3338.1 (7-3) BOS suffered only their third loss of the season last week falling to LAA(1). The lineup is loaded with Cano, M.Holliday, & AGon all being ranked at the top for their positions. Their pitching is strong as well as deep. With the rotation led by the three-headed monster that is Cliff Lee, J.Lester, and recently aquired Lance Lynn. The three potential aces plus the depth guys, and a pretty good bullpen keep them in almost every matchup. BOS looks to rebound this week taking on NYY(23) at home. 4.(6) Phillies - 3132.2 (9-1) PHI got it done moving to W6 after beating the tough LAD(19) last week. Injuries have hurt their lineup a bit, but the healthy players have thrived. Miggy has been rediculous, and leads the league in overall points. CarGo has been a monster, & Tulo isn't far behind. The rotation has underperformed, but Gio, Hellickson, & Cahill are more then capable of turning things around. Another strong bullpen, this one headlined by the best closer through the first half of this season Jason Grilli. PHI looks to continue their winning ways against PIT(30) in Pittsburgh this week. 5.(5) Rockies - 3063.7 (7-3) COL sliding to L3 after a tough loss to WAS(21) last week. This is another case of injuries crippling a team. Even so, the offense has been great. Led by Longria, David Wright, & Andrus they continue to get it done. Their pitching has suffered through injuries all season as well. C.J. Wilson, & J.DeLaRosa have held it down. While the bullpen is possibly the best in baseball led by Kimbrel, & R.Soriano. COL has a pivotal matchup this week traveling east to take on CIN(5). 6.(4) Reds - 3063.2 (9-1) CIN continued to roll, going to W8 after their defeat of PIT(30) last week. They're strong up the middle with Y.Molina, Altuve, Markakis, & Sterling Marte. Top to bottom the rotation is maybe the best in the NL. Led by beast Kershaw....Ryu, & Medlen have been great as well. Rookie J.Fernandez has been brilliant, and Greinke is rounding into form. The bullpen is also one of the best. STL is looking to go W2 this week going up against a tough SD(12) squad. 8.(9) Rays - 2914.8 (7-3) TB got back to their winning ways against MIN(13)last week. BAL heads out west to take on LAA(1) this week. 12.(14) Padres - 2667.2 (9-1) SD went to W8 with their victory over ATL(16) last week.
