Arizona Gives: Gio Gonzalez ('14 6.4Mill)
Reds Give: Hisashi Iwakuma (14' 9Mill) ('15 9Mill) Didi Gregorius ('14 800K)
I accept
(I give a SS that would not start for me since I have Hanley, and I slightly upgrade at SP, while also cutting my salary by about 3 Mill)

Confirm. I get no drop off in SP talent (in my opinion) and a young SS that will start for me.

Veto, sorry.
Gonzalez is a 28 year old perennial CY threat. Iwakuma is 33, soon to be 34 and had 1 good ML season in which is home ballpark played a huge part.
Gregorius is a shortstop who can't hit lefties at all and will likely be platooned. He doesn't have power and hasn't stolen a single base in the majors. If he were a highly touted prospect more for his bat than his glove I could understand.
All I see is a very lopsided deal in favor of the Reds. He gains by FAR the best player in the deal while giving up basically nothing *and* cuts salary whole doing so? Honestly not sure how this is getting approve by so many so quickly.

Iwakuma actually pitched better on the road than he did at home last season. He's also 32. If anyone was helped by their home park it was Gio, who had an ERA of 4 on the road. Gio is also only on a 1 year contract compared to Iwakuma who is under contract for 2 seasons. I see no reason why Iwakuma will not be as good as he was last year, you can't really say "he's only had 1 good season" when he's only started for one full season and only been in the MLB for 2 seasons.
Approve.

Approve. Getting a starting SS even if he isnt great is worth something b/c you can plug him into ur linup and he will get you points.
Also its b4 the year so you have no idea what to expect from the 2 pitchers. Austin brings up a great point about having Iwakuma under control for 2 years compared to Gio's 1.
No way this should be veoted let the owners run their teams.

I learned an important lesson last year, which was to stay out of discussions of trades I'm involved in. People have the right to veto a trade if they want and I don't need to argue a trade. However, to veto this trade is completely ridiculous. Austin and Kyle covered most of the reasoning to not veto this trade. The main thing I'll say is do your research before you veto a trade. Make sure to look at the contracts and the players stats being traded. Iwakuma outscored Gio last year and is projected to outscore him this year. As Kyle said before me, having a starting SS on your team regardless if he's known for his glove more than his bat, is very valuable in this league (especially when he's on a rookie deal). As Austin stated before, the contracts come into play in this trade. Gio makes less than Iwakuma this year, but his contract will be at least 20M next year when Iwakuma is still on the books for 9M.

Well I was definitely wrong here. He's not even going to be platooned. Owings named the outright starter.
