Free Agency is rapidly approaching the world of Base Knock Dynasty Baseball. And someone needs to preview it... am I right? This has the makings of a terrific free agency, league activity is at a high and there's a plethora of talent waiting to be signed this off-season. In this piece, I'll simply be sharing knowledge to the league of where salary caps are at, which teams are going to be spenders and which will be savers. Obviously, I'm no mind reader, so the Boston Red Sox could hold onto all $93.1 million dollars they have to spend and sell no tickets at Fenway this season. But I doubt that will happen. So with that being said, let's take a look at the the teams participating in the upcoming free agency bonanza!
The Free Agency Kings (Whoever they want is theirs)
- I'm expecting these two teams to be in the mix for Jose Abreu, Miguel Cabrera, Zack Greinke, and Clayton Kershaw. They've got more money than they can count. Thankfully for them, I've tallied it up below.
San Francisco Giants - $124.15
Toronto Blue Jays - $110.9
The Big Spenders (Too Much Money For Their Own Good)
- After Toronto and San Francisco have decided who they want to build their teams around, then we'll see some major bidding wars between these franchises. There's a lot of potential playoff contenders that could have their season decided by how well they plan for the free agency frenzy.
Boston Red Sox - $93.1
Chicago Cubs - $71.8
Chicago White Sox - $68.7
Colorado Rockies - $68.65
Los Angeles Dodgers - $56.55
Minnesota Twins - $58.8
New York Yankees - $66.15
Oakland Athletics - $63.10
St. Louis Cardinals - $84.2
Texas Rangers - $72.35
The Middle of the Pack (They'll be kinda in the mix for anybody)
- These are the teams will likely get a lot of the players that will be glossed over by the teams with a lot of money. And this could work to their advantage. This is a deep free agency class, and I'd expect a lot of talent to go to this group in the later stages of free agency after the dust has settled a bit.
Atlanta Braves - $42.65
Cleveland Indians - $33.9
Houston Astros - $37.5
Kansas City Royals - $36.3
New York Mets - $45.55
Pittsburgh Pirates - $34
Seattle Mariners - $38
The Limited (Every Dollar Is Being Counted)
- We're talking one or two signings from this group that will make an impact at most. These franchises are really going to have to pick and choose where they want to allocate the small amount of funds they possess. Thankfully, most of these teams are reigning playoff participants and have rosters that are mostly ready to compete. This is just a little paint job needed for these teams here, not the overhaul others will undergo.
Arizona D'backs - $18.35
Baltimore Orioles - $22.25
Cincinnati Reds - $25.7
Los Angeles Angels - $13.35
Miami Marlins - $26.95
Milwaukee Brewers - $23.4
Philadelphia Phillies - $14.4
San Diego Padres - $25.15
Washington Nationals - $24
The Off-Season's Walking Dead (Don't expect many bids from these teams)
- I suppose I apologize for putting a couple teams in a category of their own, but Detroit and Tampa simply have nothing to warrant being in the above category. These teams will need to maybe swing a move in order to fill the holes they need filled. It'll certainly be a challenge this off-season for the reigning AL Central and East Champions. Hopefully they're up for it.
Detroit Tigers - $1.8
Tampa Bay Rays - $7.9
