BALTIMORE, M.D - Reporter Ken Rosenthal released his offseason power rankings on Monday, evaluating where all 30 teams in Base Knock Dynasty Baseball stand after most of this winter’s free agents have found homes for 2016. The Baltimore Orioles, who finished 12-7 in 2015, checked in at 17th on Rosenthal’s list, and it seems that team general manager Michael Natelli is using it as the club’s first bulletin board material.
While pitchers and catchers don’t report to Spring Training for over a month, Natelli has been operating from the club’s spring home in Pensacola, Fla. for most of the offseason. A team source tells BKDB.com’s Brittany Ghiroli that Natelli took a visit down to the home clubhouse to leave a special surprise for the team when it shows up next month.
Rosenthal’s report mentions the Orioles’ lack of any flashy moves, though offseason acquisitions Henderson Alvarez, Jered Weaver, Adam LaRoche and Sam Dyson would likely beg to differ. Natelli is reportedly still looking for a shortstop, another bat and a front-line starter, which could go a long way in moving the Orioles up the power rankings later this offseason. However, the team’s current standing will likely be a source of early motivation as the club begins workouts a month from now.
