Hey guys, We had a vote on this back in October, but nothing was ever finalized. I wanted to centralize thoughts on the simplest update to the rules that fixes this problem: we don't want players who are in the real-life minors for 2-3 years on big MLB deals in our league. This can be accomplished by simply correcting the age rules, as Will pointed out. Recent players from the past 3 years who fit this description are Shohei Ohtani, Victor Victor Mesa, Luis Robert, and Julio Pablo Martinez. Under the new system, they would've been eligible for the MiLB Draft, thus increasing the value of our MiLB picks. Here's the simple change: Our current rule:A player is eligible for free agency if he is EITHER 23 years old and older, OR has four or more years of professional experience playing in a league recognized by MLB (KBO, etc.). The updated rule would be this:A player is eligible for free agency if he is 23 years old and older AND has five or more years of professional experience playing in a league recognized by MLB (KBO, etc.). This rule change would be consistent with the rules MLB had prior to them changing to a bidding pool system in 2017. We can't really have a bidding pool, so lining ourselves with the previously rule would be the most in line with the current MLB structure. This rule change would begin next off-season in the fall of 2020.
Please vote and comment if you have additional thoughts. Thanks! Alex

This would send players such as Victor Victor Mesa, Luis Robert, Shohei Ohtani, and Julio Pablo Martinez to the MiLB draft as some recent examples. I think this is a good thing.

This has been up for 2 months... 16-3 in favor. Hearing no big issues, we're moving forward on this.
