Hey guys!
With our new 15/15 in each league (AL/NL) format. Here is my proposal for our new yearly season schedule that should work and have no bye weeks.
Each season every team would play:
8 games - division matchups --2 against every team in your division 10 games - league matchups -- 1 game against non-division teams in your league 1 game - interleague matchup -- you play the team with the same league finish from the previous year. For example, the team with the best records from the AL and NL overall would play each other the following season. The teams with the worst records would play each other, and so on (7 vs. 7, 2 vs. 2, etc.). Sort of like the NFL.
Let's vote on this so I can get a schedule created and set for the season! Thanks!
Alex

Tim brought up a great point in GroupMe. We would need to add four weeks of interleague play in order to get to 19 weeks of interleague games due to the odd number of teams in each league. Not sure how everyone feels about this, but I would propose just adding "city battles" or whatever you want to call it and just have these teams play each other every year:
New York Yankees vs. New York Mets Chicago Cubs vs. Chicago White Sox Los Angeles Angels vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Oakland Athletics vs. San Francisco Giants
Thoughts?

Does the math work on this? 1 interleague game per team would mean 15 interleague games in total but we have a 19 week schedule so there’s 8 teams that would have two interleague games

Cardinals GM (Nik) yeah it doesn't work... need to think of a different solution. Help us out math people.

For everything to work out perfectly, the season length has to be divisible by 15 or the math will never work out (30 teams playing each other = 15 matchups). Either we accept that 8 teams will have 2 interleague games and 9 league games (vs 1 interleague game and 10 league games) or we have a 15 week season and lengthen the playoff matchups or add an extra round.

Another option is a 20 week season with 8 divisional games, 9 league games, and 3 interleague games.

I propose the following:
For 4 divisions(2 in each league): 8 divisional games, 10 league games, 1 interleague game against your ranking rival (I like the ranking rival)
For 2 divisions, 1 in each league): 8 divisional games, 9 league games (which means missing playing 1 team), 2 interleague games, 1 in which is against the ranking rival, the other is against one of the opponents in the other division on this schedule.

Basically, you have 1 interleague game every week, and then you have one week with 2 interleague games. It would look like this: D is divisonal, C - "conference" which I realize is league, but whatever, and IL- is interleague Attachments:

Update to the proposal
For 4 divisions + 1 team (2 in each league): 8 divisional games, 10 league games, 1 interleague game against your ranking rival (I like the ranking rival)
For 2 divisions-1 team , (1 in each league): 8 divisional games, 9 league games (which means missing playing 1 team), 2 interleague games, 1 in which is against the ranking rival, the other is against one of the opponents in the other division on this schedule.
The team left out from an additional interleague game will be the one with the worst record in the division the year before. That way, every one in the league gets a chance to play them.

The question is do we want every team to have the same amount of interleague games or are we okay with some teams having more interleague games than others??

I personally think it is ok for some teams to have 1 extra IL game.

I personally think it is ok for some teams to have 1 extra IL game. so you want the government to pick and choose winners? I say equal playing field for all!

For those who did not see in the chat, I wanted to let you know the parameters of the schedule this season and going forward. First, here is the grid: What this grid essentially means is as follows: - 8 divisional games - 3 Interleague games against the same rank in your division based on previous season results. (I.E. division winners play the division winners in the other league). Through out the season we will have 1 or 3 interleague games a week with the exception of week 10 where we have everyone playing an interleague game. - 8 League games which means you miss 2 opponents in your league one from each division. I have also made it to where we have a world series matchup week one if possible. because... FUN!
