Hi guys,
Just a minor update. I haven't really had a consistent way of doing this, but here is how things will be consistently going forward:
All salary coverage will be rounded to the nearest ten thousandth. So if someone is covering $13.75m on a player, the team will receive that amount in coverage, not rounding up or down.
I've never really known whether to round .5 up to or down on these. One of my gray areas over the years. 95% of the time it has been rounded up, but I second guess it being it isn't written down anywhere.
Thanks!
Alex

Well, covering 75% of 5 mil leaves 1.25 mil. If you round up to 3.8mil, then you're covering more than 75% which is against the rules. Seems only logical that you round down to 3.7 mil every time.

Ask Will if the math checks out.

Alex You can cover up to 75%, therefore you state the exact amount being covered that is less than or equal to 75%. See your Strasburg trade for how I was helping enforce this. When coverage is announced, just require that the $ amount be stated, not the %.

"So if someone is covering $13.75m on a player, the team will receive that amount in coverage, not rounding up or down." Is contradictory to his 1st line. So nothing will be done.

Yeah I’m saying that’s also wrong.

Clarify that the coverage must be announced in increments of 0.1, since we have never before done 0.05 increments for compensation

Astros GM (Will), makes sense. Okay. I'll adjust that in the rules. "Teams may cover up to 75% of a contract. Contract values will be rounded down to the nearest $0.1m to avoid exceeding 75%." Thanks guys!
