Blue Jays trade: Dylan Cease A 4 of 7 $12.5M $9.3M coverage Tigers trade Matt Brash 2 of 7 $0.8M Gordon Graceffo Spec Dylan Lesko Spec Mason Auer Spec Niko Kavadas Spec Det 2023 1st Round Pick Net Money = $3.2M for $2.0M Blue Jays Accept. I shopped Cease and was looking for a package like this. Happy with the return. I understand that Brash is likely a reliever in the long run but that risk is offset by getting a couple of highly thought of pitching specs for the future. Good talks Tigers GM (Jon)

Tigers approve. We finally get our ace. While price was steep, I am able to keep my young MLB core intact.
Unfortunately, dealing Brash was a necessary evil to get this deal done. I hope it doesn’t come back and bite me in the ass, as I think he will get another shot at rotation (although it’s a crowded one in Seattle). He has developed a cutter this off-season and already has plus plus stuff, just struggled in his first starts after being called up (primarily due to control and not having a third pitch). He has proven that his floor is already high via high-leverage bullpen arm (which he proved after getting called back up), but the fear for me is he gets another shot at rotation due to injuries and/or trades and ends up being what I thought he could (a top end starter) with massive strikeout potential as he was in minors.
I am also really high on Auer, and he has shot up rankings after fall league performance. That one hurts as well.
Lesko’s stuff measures off the charts, but he is disposable as he is a ways out and a long term play.
Kavadas has shot up rankings this year due to his crazy power and hit tools (average WRC+ in minors is something stupid like 160). Only issue I see with him is poor defense and speed. Also more expendable for me given position eligibility.
I see Graceffo’s ceiling as 4th or 5th starter. Although I think he has potential at second half call up this year.
Good talks as always Stephen

Approve. Gotta give the edge to Detroit on this one. I'd have shot for 2-3 better assets rather than 5-6 above average ones for an ace.

allow. it's a great trade for the Tigers and a decent trade for the Blue Jays.
Gordon Graceffo, A high energy pitcher, his foot work is a bit different and it looks like he balks sometimes, his release point from Villanova to HiA to AA has stayed the same, leading him to plus plus control, he carries a pretty fastball that rides at about 97, the slider has good bite and his curve can bugs bunny. Graceffo is a decent bet to be 23's Spencer Strider.
Dylan Lesko, from his 2021 videos and scouting reports he has talent. The way he works the mound he looks like a future RP, his ceiling is that of a front line starter. This is the kind of pitcher I tend to shy away from due to the prospect cost, I'd like to see him pitch 170 innings and then take a better look at him.
Mason Auer, this guy has a great arm, good speed, very athletic and beats lesser pitchers and looks like a dude in batting practice. Against better pitchers, which is what really matters, he looks lost in the box, his hit tool could improve because he has a good swing plane, but he needs to be better prepared to make his AB's count, Brett Gardner as his ceiling, 4th OF looks more likely.
Niko Kavadas, I liked Niko's chances alot more before I started breaking down his videos. What I noticed, pitchers are pitching around him because he has tremendous power that plays in a game and Kavadas is good at sitting on his pitch, but he misses when it isn't his pitch and lets good pitches go for strikes giving him what looks a 40 hit tool. In the field he doesn't make many errors, but he seems slow to react to balls hit in his direction and is flat footed (this has to be fixed if he wants a chance at being on MLB roster). The power is legit, the hit tool needs works and he looks like 1B/DH type of player so his opportunity is going to be slim.
