White Sox Trade:
Joe Perez, 3B (HOU) $.3 M Forrest Whitley, RHP (HOU) $.3 M Felnin Celesten, SS (SEA) $.3 M
New York Yankees Trade:
Ketel Marte, 2B $15 Mill (2027) (ARZ) (Yankees cover $11.2 Mill this season and $5 mill in 2024)
White Sox accept. We've been big fans of Ketel since his BK Stros days. We honestly wanted to go after him in FA, but unfortunately had more glaring needs. With Jazz moving to the OF, a long term spot opened at second. We checked in with Jacob on his availability and were happy to come to an agreement.

Yankees accept. Finally moved Marte. Nobody wanted him because he was 2B only, so nice to finally get him moved

Allow
Joe Perez - In batting practice, Perez is a good hitter, against lesser hitters Perez is a good hitter, against decent and good pitchers he looks slow and all too willing to take pitches. However, his movement is fluid, although slowish, and his best tool is his arm. Maybe he makes it as an emergency 3B?
Forrest Whitley - Once the top pitching prospect in baseball still has a chance to an effective MLB pitcher. In his Spring Training clips, he looks healthy, there is still a unnatural motion at the end of his delivery which in the past caused his control and arm health, but he seems to have more control over arm, I would guess that the Astros will take their time with Whitley but he could still be a starter?
Felnin Celesten - Has a quick swing, has good athleticism, and room to grow. It's difficult to say anything too definitive about a kid who is still developing, but the Mariners have themselves a project, his footwork needs improvement, his swings aren't consistent, his weight shift alters, but people that are better at this paid him millions of dollars to say this kid a future stud.

Approve.
Seems light for Marte, but I guess he is 3 years removed from his only all star appearance.
