Hey guys, Kyle here...wait no this is Nik. Buying...and selling? Questionable trade? A play straight out of Kyle's book.

Cardinals accept. Here's the deal. I pushed a lot of my chips in last year to win a championship. I had Ohtani on a team friendly deal and there was no way I was going to be able to extend him on a $45M contract. This deal is to regain some of those chips so the BK Cards can be competitive long term.

This move is a move towards the future without completely sacrificing the present. Seager and Devers are very good players, but both will garner $20M+ per year if I tag them. Ohtani was at 1,000+ points per year and I didn't tag him - the same applies here. I am not paying $40M a year to two players that are also going to return about 1,000+ points per year. I saw this as an opportunity to sell them when I could.

In exchange for these two guys I get two mediocre replacements in Suarez and Cron. I get an upgrade for the future of my team with Abrams, Painter, a 1st and the 7th. Abrams is cost controlled for the next 6.5 years. I think he will develop into a Bogaerts type of hitter. Painter is arguably the best pitcher in the minors and would've been up this year if it weren't for the UCL strain. I see Painter as a Dustin May comparable.

If you want to know what Dustin May alone fetched me last year it was: Verlander (1.5 years + cap coverage), Edwin Diaz (1.5 years + cap coverage), and 4.5 years of Anthony Santander.

Yes, my team won't be as good right now, but that's not my goal in this deal. I am positioning the BK Cardinals for long term success.

And just in case you were wondering I reached out to multiple other owners to get other offers on these guys and I was left on read.

P.S. Kyle tried to trade for Devers in the offseason, but he wouldn't trade me Evan Carter so we didn't get a deal done. Shocker!
