Giants receive:
2B/SS/OF Mookie Betts, $33.5 ('23 - '24) -- $13.6 covered in 2023 SP Joe Musgrove, $11.6 (A 7/7) 2023 Draft Pick TEX 7th Round Astros receive:
UT Bryce Harper, $29.8 ('23) SP Luis Garcia, $0.8 (3/7) OF Josue De Paula, $0.3 (prospect) 3B Tucker Toman, $0.3 (prospect) SS Austin Martin, $0.3 (prospect) 2023 Draft Pick SFG 4th Round
As I'm looking to next year, Bryce Harper offers a unique franchise tag value and will allow me some more flexibility in cap spending over the next few years while I can afford to let him fully heal the UCL in 2023 and gain some position eligibility for next year. While I still absolutely love Mookie more than any player not named Brandon Belt, including him here was the only way I could think of to convince Das to send Harper along with another injured SP that I'm looking to accumulate in Luis Garcia. Big fan of de Paula's results as an 18yo in full season ball. I think Austin Martin still has a chance to become a Ben Zobrist type of player once he's fully healthy. Toman is another interesting spec who has some nice projectable tools as well. Very happy with this return and the type of roster-building strategies it opens up for me. Thanks for the negotiations Das (Former Giants GM)

Giants accept. When Bryce Harper tore his UCL days before the FT signing was set to be complete, I changed the length of his contract from a 3 year contract to a 1 year contract, thinking Bryce Harper wouldn't accumulate stats this season and when he did his numbers would be sapped, that sort of been the case. Harper is performing much better than I expected from him and returned far sooner than expected, however one of benefits to having Harper on a 1 year Franchise deal was to increase his trade value for this season as Harper has been a big contributor for this Giants lineup and I knew I would need to bring in a superstar to replace his missed expected production. Along come the Astros with Mookie Betts and Joe Musgrove. Betts fits the profile of exactly the sort of a versatile upgrade that I was hoping to find and Musgrove will hopefully be a healthy arm for the postseason. It stings a bit losing Josue De Paula, because he could be special. However, it's that time of year the Giants need to start putting together a lineup that will hopefully bring postseason success, so I figured I was going to lose a prospect or two that I would have preferred to hang onto. This deal is very much geared for short term success, hopefully be enough that I won't have to spend too much more prospect capital before the trade deadline.
Thank you for the trade talks Will, I'm glad we could come together on a deal that hopefully benefits both our causes.

Have really enjoyed seeing Will go to work. Makes sense for Das too though.
