Hey friends!
Congratulations to the Baltimore Orioles on winning the 2023 BKDB World Series! After 12 long years, the O's finally got it done, winning their first title in franchise history. A great run by this year's National League champion, the St. Louis Cardinals.
As we enter the natural break in the year, I wanted to get the off-season schedule on your radar now. Also, we won't be doing an activity check until later in October, but if you happen to know you won't be coming back for next season, please let me know as soon as possible. We have gone two years without replacing a GM, definitely a league record. I would love to make it three
2023-2024 Off-Season Schedule
October 1 - Trading Opens
October 31 - Trading Closes
November 1 - Roster Decision Window Opens
November 30 - Roster Decisions Due
January 2 - Free Agency Opens
February 1 - First Year Player Draft
March 28 - Opening Day for the 2024 Season
A couple fun things you can expect for the month of October:
1. New Rules Discussion. This is a great time of year to propose updates to the league for upcoming seasons. Try to log in every few days at least even if you're planning on not trading to keep up with any new ideas.
2. GM of the Year Voting. For the first time in league history, we will be voting on the GM of the year. We will be narrowing it down to a single GM of the season. I will open a nominations thread from which GM's will be nominated for this award. The league will then vote on the award to be given out for the season.
3. BK Pod. I'm guessing we can expect more of the same from the fantastic podcast from Kyle and Stephen during the dead months of the season. A couple segments I'm hoping for: "2 minutes on each team on what you would do if you were that team this off-season", "Predict the 2024 playoff bracket", and lastly "guess the most outrageous contract for Free Agency."
