Hi guys,
Free Agency opens a week from today at midnight ET, January 1 (Monday night at midnight). All free agents should be posted, but you are free to post any you see missing. Here are the rules for free agency if you need a refresher. Two very important things:
Please use the bid calculator to ensure bids are accurate.
Please update the Free Agency spreadsheet when you make a bid.

FREE AGENCY RULES
BIDDING RULES & CONTRACT POINTS
A player is signed to a team when that team's offer has remained unbeaten for 48 hours. The time is reduced to 24 hours during the regular season to speed up signings so teams can get players on the field.
The minimum starting bid for a free agent is an annual value of at least $0.30. Valid bids must be specified to the nearest $0.10, or they will be invalid. Teams may under no circumstance delete a bid.
In order to 'beat' a standing bid, the new bid must be at least 0.30 contract points higher than the previous bid.
Contract points are determined by the contract length (total years, not including team options) as follows:
- 1 year: Multiply Annual Value by 1.0x
- 2 years: Multiply Annual Value by 1.1x
- 3 years: Multiply Annual Value by 1.2x
- 4 years: Multiply Annual Value by 1.3x
- 5 years: Multiply Annual Value by 1.4x
There is an available calculator to help determine what is the minimum bid increase required depending on contract length in the following link: Free Agency Bidding Calculator. This is also found in the navigation bar item titled 'Bidding Calculator'.
More info on the use of this calculator and the concept behind the idea can be found here: Discussion on Bidding Calculator Use and Function
TEAM OPTIONS
Teams may add a player option to any offer to a free agent, but a team option cannot be the sixth year of an offer. There may only be one option year offered in a contract and this must be specified in the bid.
Team options do not count towards the contract length in order to determine total contract points.
SALARY CAP CONSIDERATIONS
Teams may not go over the salary cap to sign a player. If a bid would put a team over the salary cap, the bid is determined to be void, and the team with the previous high bid has another clock start as soon as the leading bid is discovered to be void.
Teams may not bid more salary than they have on players on the market. For example, a team can't have $20.00 in cap space, and bid $15.00 on one player and $7.00 on another. Bids are tracked chronologically by when they are posted, and will be invalid if the bid reduces your remaining cap space below $0.00.
BIDDING FORMAT
An acceptable bid will include the contract points, length in years, the annual value, and, if applicable, whether there is a team option.
Here is an example of the format for a posted bid:
2 years
$4.0m with an option
Contract Points = 4.4
