Pirates TRADE: — Jackson Holliday BAL SS, Prospect
Giants TRADE: — Juan Soto NYY OF, $14M (6-A) — 75% coverage ($10.5M) on Soto in 2024
I accept. This one was a toughie. Casey and I went back and forth on and off basically since he’s been here, so several months, about Soto. I was immediately interested despite my team state because it’s Juan F’in Soto. I think we each started on our differing poles of offers but when he suggested this straight up swap, it was the first time that I really had to sit back and think hard about moving Holliday. In doing so I came to the conclusion that Jackson Holliday could be anything - he could even be Juan Soto! And that made the deal for me, despite my team being in the state that it is. A $30M+ extension for Soto is well worth it, and I think he has nearly a decade of elite production left in him with a game that should age very gracefully. If I can get him to hang on for 2 years while I build up the squad and then give me 4-5 years of himself as I go through a contending window, I will be thrilled with this trade no matter what Holliday does with his career. To me, that’s the better bet to take. Good luck Casey - I am glad we could finally get this done

Accept. Easy accept here for me to get more control and again the important factor CHEAPER. Shedding this future potential extension and arb raise next season will actually let me be a player in FA next offseason to build areas of need

Approve. I hope you win a championship Max. 2 years of Soto vs 7 years of the number 1 prospect in all of baseball? Don't think I could do it. Now granted, he's playing for the Yanks with the short porch in RF, so I think his numbers will get even better.
