With Darvish's status up in the air, I wanted to find another win-now SP and Morton seemed to be the best fit for my unique collection of assets. I like Springs a lot, he looks great in his rehab and his return is imminent. Somewhat of a risk, but I like him more than Garcia in 2024 and I like his cheap tag option.

I accept. The long awaited Morton trade! Briceno is a quality prospect, somewhere in the borderline top 100 range right now but if he comes back healthy and hitting in the second half like he did last season, he will climb quickly. Gipson-Long was also well regarded before Tommy John and I seem to be collecting injured types who should be back when I’m winning games again. The Springs/Garcia swap benefits both of us. While I prefer Springs talent and upside, I think the median outcome for both is pretty similar. Garcia has longer control and means I free up an RFA tag to acquire an expiring at the deadline should I choose to do so. I also was only going to be able to RFA Springs which could inflate his price, while Will can take advantage of his very cheap Franchise Tag instead
