Hello everyone,
First, I want to apologize for not being more active in the league the past week... actually this whole month. Let's try and get this jump-started again.
A few issues need to be discussed, so here they are.
1 The Draft
Okay, so as of now, over half of the picks have been either a 12 hour limit selection or auto-pick. The draft is getting long, and tiresome since no one's picking.
Here's my two suggestions:
1. We simulate the final two rounds of the draft, using the order that the players in the MLB draft were picked to determine the best available player.
2. We narrow down the time limit to 1 hour per pick. That way the teams on auto-pick and the teams not picking will be skipped quicker and the teams that want to be in the draft can pick quickly.
3. Keep it the way it is, but I don't think anyone wants that, just throwing it in there.
2. Official Rosters/Google Spreadsheets/etc.
Okay, so we all know this is also an issue as shown in the Marlins/Yankees deal where the Yankees went over cap. We, as of now, have to solutions that could work.
1. Official Rosters
On the site, as most of you have seen, I've attempted to start creating official rosters of all the teams. This is hard however, and really time consuming. It's a great idea, but a really difficult one to start... maybe we could have a few people do five teams or something, i don't know.
2. Google Spreadsheets
Reds suggested this idea a long time ago. We would keep track of the rosters on google spreads. It is easier to switch stuff around and we could have all the rosters on one page. If you want to know more, Slava knows more about it.
Please comment on which option for the Draft and Official rosters/spreadsheets you would like the league to implement.
Here are a few things left to update:
If any teams have not signed up for Fantrax or picked up all your players. You must do so if you want to score points, this season will count! Also, you must make sure your roster is done correctly. You may have only 25 players on the fantrax site. The roster format is this:
C
1B
2B
SS
3B
OF
OF
OF
UT
5 SP
4 RP
Along with 6 bench players. Next year, we'll have 5 RP, but it was messed up this year and I apologize for that. If you have any more players in your starting lineup, fantrax will make your roster invalid and you will not record points. If you don't know how to place players on your bench, IR, please send me or a co-commissioner a pm.
The teams that currently have invalid rosters or have not signed up and picked up their players on fantrax are:
Phillies (invalid roster)
Dodgers (no owner, I don't know how to add the players, Gregg??)
Nationals (not signed up)
Pirates (not signed up)
Gregg, can you please post a check on the AL teams that have yet to do so.
Finally, the teams that need new owner or are inactive.
White Sox (need a new owner)
Nationals (gone until August 1st last post)
Rays (i'll get on him )
Athletics (5 days)
Mariners (just for the record, he doesn't want to trade his players, so the pm's won't be replied to, he likes the Mariners, so that who he's playing. If anyone has a problem with this, please PM me.)
Phillies (4 days)
Dodgers (need a new owner)
Also, the trans log problem. This is Kevin's job, I will PM about it.
Finally, the releases situation. The voting for option number 2 in the poll put up by Gregg was higher than keeping it the same. I really don't approve of this idea. If we say you only have to pay half for one year, then the whole point of years on a contract in free agency would mean nothing. It doesn't matter how many years you sign him for if you can just cut him and pay half the next year. So yeah, I think keeping it the way it is is the best solution. Teams will just have to be smart and cautious in free agency.
Alright, that concludes it. Please comment with your opinoins, suggestions, etc. Good luck to everyone this season.
