Okay, so here's a recent debate that's come up. As of now, we have a draft of international players and MiLB players that were released during last season and this off-season. Here's the rules for it: We will hold a MiLB draft each year before the commencement of the season (March of each year). The draft will last 6 rounds and all players not on another team's roster and that have not had 100 Major League AB or 50 IP in a single season plus international free agents will be eligible to be drafted. All players that are drafted have their rights retained indefinitely, until they reach free agency in our league structure.
Another option would be to have just a free claim of all prospects that are released... kinda like waivers with an order. And the international free agents would have silent bidding. What's everyone's thoughts on this? Thanks, Alex

definitely silent bidding on international FA, much more realistic. Also, we can kind of use it as a test for FA in the future, if all runs smoothly and stuff like that

I'm in favor of the Draft. And as said before, only players that can still be considered prospects are eligible, and also any international players who do NOT sign a major league deal. So basically, if they are not added to the 40 man roster, they go into the draft pool. If they do sign and are added to the 40, than they would become FA.
And the ones who do become FA's, I'd say ALL of them should be silent. Just for the fact how ridiculous contracts will get.

Im in favor of the draft also. I dont want to be paying big bucks for international 17 year olds who may or may not make the big leagues. Congrats to whoever has the first draft pick and drafts Darvish. That team probably sucked last year and it will help them out.

So Gregg, what do you mean by not signing an MLB contract? Do you mean all contracts? Just major leagues, not minors?
Cause I don't want us drafting/signing players that aren't even in the MLB yet.

Our minor league draft would consist of any unowned minor league player that is not on his MLB teams 40-man roster. Guys like Darvish (who will be added to Rangers 40-man), and most likely Cespedes, would be (silent bidded) free agents. Guys like Nomar Mazara, & Ronaldo Guzman would be included in the player pool for the draft.
