SP Chris Carpenter (15mil)
Nats Trade:
2nd round pick #21
SP Tyler Chatwood (400k)
OF Daniel Fields (300k)
I accept this trade because it add some youth to my MLB roster and adds some depth to my minor league system as well as gaining a pick. Shedding Carps contract also should put me in the running for Darvish or Cespedes.

confirm, i wanted to get another sure pitcher in case JJ doesn't come back, and i have the cap space to afford Carp. to clarify it is the Astros pick (#21) which i acquired in an earlier deal. Thanks to Austin for the quick and easy negotiations.

This trade is just ununderstandable. I dont get it: a top 20 SP for a mediocre spect/SP with still stuff prove and a spect who isnt known that well? I dont understand. Carp is older, yes, but he is worth more.

Carpenter is worth way more than what the Cardinals are getting. However, I don't see anything fishy with the negotiations and if the Cardinals want to shed his salary and trade him...I say let him. It's his team to manage. We need to all stop being so picky about the trades and let the GMs manage their teams

Yeah Carp is going to 37 this year and honestly at that point how much do you think he has left? If I want to compete for a International Signee I needed to shed cap and 15 million seemed to me like way to much for a guy like Carp, when guys on my team like Kershaw, Hanson and Wainwright are all getting paid less even though they are superior.
