In what is perhaps the biggest deal of the offseason, the Orioles and Tigers have agreed to a trade.
The Orioles will be sending: OF Andrew McCutchen (12: $400k 13-15: Arbitration) SP Jaime Garcia (12: $400k 13-15: Arbitration) RP Jim Johnson (12:$1.5M 13:$2M 14:$2.5M) 2B Omar Infante (12: $5M 13: $5M) SP Bobby Bundy ($300k until MLB) SP Jay Jackson ($300k until MLB)
to the Tigers in exchange for 2011 AL MVP SP Justin Verlander (12: $20M 13: $20M 14: $20M)
In an attempt to create a more feared rotation, the Orioles were willing to sacrifice superstar center fielder Andrew McCutchen, quality ERA pitching Garcia, as well as a consistent hitting second baseman in Infante and two quality prospects.
The reason the Orioles did this move speaks for itself.

Wow this is a huge trade. I feel like this is really a lot for Verlander but I don't think there was any collusion and I don't think it will hurt our league, so I approve

I accept. It burns to lose Verlander, but there is absolutely no way that he plays the same way he played last year, I love the prospects I get in return. Jim Johnson has a chance to be the Orioles closer. Infante adds much needed depth to this roster (I had 0 bench players). Garcia will do fine next to Halladay in the rotation, and I LOVE McCutchen.

To build on my thought, the Orioles are also seeking a replacement for the recently departing Philip Humber, and are not so concerned about McCutchen as they see a deal with Oakland going through for center fielder Coco Crisp. So though it is a lot, we (the Orioles) are actually plugging holes. It is a significant amount, but it actually benefits the Orioles perfectly. And obviously the Tigers acquire some nice chips in the deal. I'll let Jacob explain his own thinking though.

I also gain a significant amount of cap space. Hopefully next year I can make a run at a good SP free agent.

Wow, I'm not sure I like this for Baltimore. So much talent he's giving up as well as youth. I'll approve though, no collusion obviously.

Advantage to Tigers here as well, but there's more than likely no collusion so I approve.
