This is a terrible trade for Toronto, veto.
Gray will be better than Detwiler and will be in the bigs this season. Jays is rebuilding?

I'm going to Veto as well.
A brand new manager shipping out players left and right isn't to my liking. Nothing against the Jays, but this might be the time to step back and observe the league to acclimate yourself.
The Pujols trade was questionable on some level, but this makes even less sense for a rebuilding team. 2 prospect for a guy with an awful K-rate and a career xFIP of 4.44 is not someone you target for a top 100 prospect.

Slava,
I do believe that is a little short sided of you. Your basically saying that Detwiler's current stat's are going to project forward over the next two season's that I control him at basically zero cost to my team (I beleive they will improve as this was his first major league season in a rotation every fifth day). There is a balance between prospects and young projectable arms that will be improving over time. I do believe that the opportunity cost of losing Grey is manageable with a top ten pick in this years MiLB draft. When you compare that cost to the fact that my major league rotation is a joke I have to strongly disagree with you.
I appreciate you looking out for my best interests in this new league. But I promise I am acting in the best interest of this team over the long term, I am not new to evaluating value and in my opinion this is a fair trade as the current vote would suggest.

One final note. You all know who Jonathan Mayo is (the respected journalist who does the top 100 prospects every year for mlb.com) Take a look at this list dated September 6, 2012. Sonny Grey isn't a top 100 prospect on this list and not even a top 6 prospect in his own organization. Before you guys veto trades and influence others based upon your comments I would appreciate it if you get your facts straight. Thanks. mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2012/

John Sickels also dropped Gray out of his top 120 and the A's have more SPs than they know what to do with, who says Gray even gets a starting shot? Detwiler is putting up better numbers in the majors than Gray has so far in his minor league career, he's been pretty lackluster all around. No reason not to approve this.

Just b/c a prospect was in a top 100 last year doesn't mean he's anything good this year.

I am sorry, I did not realize how bad of a season Gray had, I still don't love the deal for Toronto but it is no longer vetoable.
I personally really like Sonny Gray, which triggered my initial reaction.
I have had more deals vetoed than I can count, it will still go through.

The fact is, Detwiler is mediocre at best and has been lucky throughout his MLB career to boot (check peripherals). Considering this league scores K's (and Detwiler has one of the worst K-rates in the MLB), this makes it even more appalling.
A ranked prospect of any sort shouldn't be traded for him. Gray may not have had a stellar year, but a rebuilding team shouldn't be trading for Detwiler period. Add to it the fact that he gives away another prospect pushes this past the line of what is a reasonable deal.
If Blue Jays were an established owner, it'd be one thing. But the owner has been in the league for barely a week and is trading away one of his few worthwhile prospects - makes no sense to me.
In any case, this trade is going to pass. I have but one vote and I used it.

Slava,
You would hope an established owner such as yourself would check to ensure what you are saying isn't out dated prior to calling trades "appalling". I'm not going to go back and forth with you, the deal is going to go through so we can agree to disagree. The fact that you are assuming that there will be no progression in Detwilers career (looking at peripherals from the first full season in a major league rotation is a rather small sample size considering his stuff) over the next two seasons that I control him at very little cost to my team is quite short sided of you. The argument that I am new and I don't know what I am doing is getting sort of old and lacks any real analysis as to how this deal is vetoable, this is reinforced when considering that you stand alone with your vote to veto this deal.

Dude, seriously? It's my right to veto and I'm not doing it out of spite. If you don't accept my reasoning - that's called a disagreement. Don't blow it out of proportion. I've had trades vetoed and pass and I've had trades vetoed and nuked. Dust yourself off and use the insight on future deals.

No need to get chippy here guys 3 Words: Free Fantasy Baseball A little seriousness never hurt though. i'll approve this deal, but only because Ray is the owner of BY FAR the worst rotation in the league. It needs improvement.

No worries commish. I wont engage in discussions like this in the future, I honestly am not one to stir the pot, but I do think it is important to defend my logic in a new league to ensure that you have an idea that I know what I am doing.
I will say that this thread has made me back off of multiple trade conversations and I will choose to be a little less active for the time being.

I definitely don't want to down activity. I just hate long fighting/arguing over comments. Just say your opinion and then let it go.
