Cash - Mariners will cover 25m of the David Ortiz contract for the 2013 season and 1m of the Chen Contract for the 2013 season.

The Mariners accept this trade. After looking it over, it is highly unlikely that I make up the 600 point differential between the Rays and win my last game against Texas to achieve the post-season. It's time to deal away the 15th best hitter in the league in Ortiz to a contender and get something while I still can. Encarnacion prevents me from keeping Ortiz next season. Odor is a great prospect, and I like what the others have done this season. De la Rosa gives me a controllable reliever for the future with my bullpen about to disappear this off-season.
