The Toronto Blue Jays agree to send: -Andre Rienzo -Hunter Dozier -Jason Hammel -1st, 3rd, & 4th Round picks in the 2014 MiLB Draft
to the Los Angeles Angels for: -Jered Weaver
All in all it's just a deal to help the Angels be under the cap for the 2014 season. I get a great pitcher and he gets to keep some of his other players who are due big cash via Arbitration and etc.
Angels to aprrove, nice workin' with ya Derrick.

I confirm. I hate losing my 2012 World Series MVP, but need to do what I have to do to conform to our new league rules. I get some good potential in return, but needed to do this trade based more off of financial reasons.
Salaries: A.Rienzo [2/7] (14:$0.8M) H.Dozier (prospect) J.Hammel (14:$0.5M)(15:$0.5M) J.Weaver (14:$23.4M)
Nice dealing with you Santiago. Good luck to you and your Blue Jays this season and beyond.

I can't get behind this one no matter how I look at it...
Jason Hammel had one less start than Weaver last season and only scored 80 points less in the entire year. Both pitchers are the same age (31). Hammel is on a very cheap two year contract for 500k. Weaver gets 23.4m this season, and then will get paid anywhere from 20 to 30 million following this season if the franchise tag is used... otherwise he's probably a goner after just one season. Then you add in Rienzo (promising young pitcher who will start around 20-25 games for Chicago next season) and Dozier (hit nearly .333 in his play in single A and should be due for a promotion next year)... and then picks 1, 3, and 4 in next year's draft, all of which are very valuable... and I think teams will start to realize that when they search the minors like Derrick, I, and a few other teams do for existing available MiLB players.
If Weaver had significantly more value than Hammel and there wasn't such a price disparity, I'd approve... but I think Jays could do much better here. I don't veto often... but I feel like I've given at least proof that I do research trades...

I hate to have to defend a trade, but you went on quite a rant there so I feel a need to say something in response.
Lol....you have to be kidding in comparing Hammel to Weaver. The fact that Hammel scored 80 less points and had only one less start is really all you need to know. Weaver was injured and missed part of the season with an injury to his non-throwing arm. Hammel performed as he normally does. Once he was back healthy Weaver was back to his normal self as well. He averaged 15.2ppg, while Hammel only averaged 10.8ppg. In his last 10 starts of 2013 Weaver averaged over 16ppg. In 2012 when Weaver was at full health, Weaver scored 525.6pts while Hammel scored 285.1. No matter age or contract, Weaver is by far a much better pitcher then Hammel. There's no guarantee that Rienzo will even be in the White Sox rotation. Much less that he'll get 20-25 starts. the prospects and picks(late in all 3 rounds, as TOR was a playoff team last season) give me a chance to try to make up the loss between them and Weaver. Weaver does have significantly more value then Hammel. If I could afford to, I'd keep Weaver and franchise him, he's worth it. Adding Weaver gives TOR a great 1-2 punch at the top of their rotation, something that few teams in this league have.

I'm going to have to agree with Derrick on this one. Weaver being hurt the first part of the season changes what total points he would've gotten if healthy.

If allowed to, Derrick came up with an extension to this trade. I'd add Brian Johnson (SP prospect) and my 5th and 6th round picks. He'd add Hiroki Kuroda.
If that's fine with all of you guys, I'd post this earlier but my internet went out and I couldn't post this after we came up with it.

I confirm. I need this trade to pass due to financial reasons, and am willing to part with Kuroda in order help along the process.
