Mariners trade Adrian Beltre (TEX) $18M
D'Backs trade Leonys Martin (TEX) $2.3M Zach Green (PHI) $300K Christian Lopes (TOR) $300K 3rd round Amateur pick
I'm in need of some cap space and have several other quality players at 3B and can afford to offload the high salary of Beltre. Martin will replace one of the OF I lost to FA and gain some depth in the minors with Lopes and Green.

I was under the assumption that trading wasn't allowed until free agency starts Alex?

All of these are players that aren't involved in free agency and have guaranteed contracts through the end of the 2015 season Noah, the players we had discussed did not,
