Hey guys, I've had a couple of repeated questions, so I'm just going to clarify some rules as well as add some extra info. So check this out.
A. Not exactly... you still have to submit a bid to this player in order to sign him, then wait the regular 48 hours until the player is "official". The only change is that you don't have to wait 48 hours while "you" wait to make a decision on the player. You just sign him because obviously you're not going to decide to not take the contract. I know that's slightly confusing, but makes sense right?
A. Yes, but there is a minimum increase of 300k per bid.
A. Yes and no. You can release any player under prospect protection, that is in his first three years of play (a year of play is determined by whether or not a player met the standard of 100 AB or 40 IP), for free with no penalty. You cannot release a player who is under an arbitration contract, whether A or B, for free. You have to pay the release penalty of half per season.
And a change for you all! Right now we have it so that all bids through the first week need 72 hours before they become official. I'm going to change it because of the time... the season is starting in under a month! After 72 hours, then it becomes 48 hours... so give it three days after free agency starts and then we'll go to 48 hours. This means that on Monday, 7 PM CT all bids submitted from then on will only have to stand for 48 hours before a player becomes official. Sound good?
Thanks!
Q. If I have a restricted free agent that is not bid on, can I just sign him to whatever contract I want?
Q. Can I increase the bids by however much I want?
Q. Can I release an ARB player for free?
