Rockies trade: OF, Clint Coulter (300k) OF, Tyler Holt (300k) 2B, Hernan Perez (300k)
Marlins trade: OF, Alex Jackson (300k)
Rockies accept. I understand if this isn't approved of course, but I'll explain quickly why I feel this a better deal. Coulter is actually a good prospect, given a "B" on minorleagueball which I know many of you use. He's also 4th on MLB.com's Brewers prospect list and he's hitting .315 with 6 HR's, 17 RBI, and 4 SB so far this season with a potential catcher/outfield eligibility that could be useful. Holt and Perez were recently called up and we'll see what they can do, basically just fillers for the Marlins. I do this trade, because one, Jackson has massive potential, and everyone here knows it. I'm rebuilding and I have a few guys like Coulter in the outfield who could see MLB action soon and are playing well in the minors, so this is a great flip getting a big potential guy for me down the road. Vote as you will.

I accept. Coulter is mashing in minors, and Holt just got called up. Good young hitter, and Perez adds depth to my team. I don't believe in Jackson. He hasn't gotten a hit in a week. He was hit by a line drive in face last year, and hasn't been the same since. But Coulter is a tremendous talent, and Holt is looking like he may turn into a solid big league hitter.

Oooohhhhh. I see now. Two AAAA guys who has been up and down over the last 2/3 seasons and Coulter are worth the almighty Alex Jackson???
Veto
You were all able to convince me of the untapped potential and the astronomical upside of Alex Jackson, so this deal just isn't fair to the Marlins. I mean they are giving up a "potential" perennial All-Star, who is highly ranked by most of the evaluators after only 44 games played, for a couple guys who are up and down and a catcher who finally caught fire this year after spending parts of 3 season at the rookie-ball level??? The prospect from the other deal (Austin Slater) was just drafted last year and is already in A+ hitting .328 no less!
Anyway, because of the superstar potential of Alex Jackson, which most of you made very clear to me last week, I veto this deal because it's "not fair".

You're kidding me, right?
I'm abstaining from voting until I see what everyone else has to say.
What a joke.

I'm torn on whether to use SFG's deal as a measure of this deal. Considering that vetoes are so few and far between here and how this trade has come days after the last one, I will:
Veto
This is no better than the trade with SFG
If I were voting solely on this deal, I would abstain but only because Coulter is hot and Jackson is slumping. No way I would pass this trade.

I approved Clair's first trade because I felt it was reasonable enough and both parties involved had their reasons. However, that trade got vetoed and now I'm looking at this trade and can't help but compare the two. I don't see how this trade is much better or even that much different than the previous trade.

This is a joke. So Alex gives a decent prospect plus two throw-in players, and that's considered better? Whereas I give a decent prospect, one that Travis chose himself, along with Logan Morrison, and that gets vetoed? I'm sorry, but I don't really see how this is any better than the previous trade.
It pisses me off that some of you, including Mr. LM himself, made such a big deal saying that I didn't give enough, and this is the offer you have to counter the vetoed trade? There are issues here.

Deal is vetoed but overkill is fun. Not cool Alex.
Veto. (1-5), cancelled.

The animosity level is through the roof! Dial it down Clair and Jared - it's fantasy baseball! Maybe Rockies should have been a bit wiser after having condemned the SF / MIA trade, but there's no need to rip him to shreds. More discussion - less dissing por favor.

Discussion? Haha... seems like everyone just wants to ignore the whole veto-discussion... and after this little charade... it only makes it worse
I've caught wind that this trade was just made to prove a point and that it was expected to get vetoed.. what's even the point in that? Is Alex just trying to flex his muscles as LM.. or does he fear that a few of us have a point and he was in the wrong for allowing the first trade to be even vetoed in the first place... I'm not backing down from this until this is resolved.

I didn't rip Alex. I didn't even mention him. I just voted based on "fairness" of future and perceived value. Alex Jackson is worth a lot, and that's what I explained.

I'm not trying to point fingers. Both of your comments have been reasonable, but they come across as overly scornful.
I'm glad you guys are resolved to better the league, and I hope that happens. With that said, have some respect for the guy that has run this league for years, with much success!
And Clair, you could have caught wind of that in the first post of this thread. Alex admitted the deal might be vetoed, and he was OK with it when it was. He made his case, lost his case, and accepted the league's judgement. I don't think that's muscle flexing on his part - more like emphasizing his willingness to allow others to flex their muscles.

Sarcasm gets us no where. I don't fear you, or anyone, Clair. I've always had a policy of open discussion on all things regarding this league, as many people can attest to. There has been no post by you in the announcements, suggestions, or anywhere. Merely arguing in trade threads after vetoed deals that go nowhere.
If you want change, then make it happen. And if change doesn't happen, it's probably because the league doesn't want it. This was an improved offer in my view to your trade, so I made it with the hope that it would pass, and it happened to prove a point while being vetoed. And we are not ignoring this discussion... there's been much discussion in the league staff section of the league, and if you wish to make it a more league-wide discussion, please post something, as I've asked before.
