Athletics Acquire: SP Mat Latos (15.4M) 11.6M in 2015
Blue Jays Acquire: RP Kyuji Fujikawa (600k) 3B Christian Villanueva (300k) SP Chris Bassitt (300k)
I get a pitcher is a risky rental. I have no F-tag for him, and a tight payroll next year, so I doubt he sticks around.

What's the value for Blue Jays here? Two relievers who just got sent down and a guy who's hitting .203 and is position blocked by one of the best young stars in our game for a starter who's one year removed from being really good and he's paying for him as well. I just want to hear what Blue Jays was looking for in this deal before expressing any vote or opinion on this trade. Noah says it's a "risky" rental... but there's no risk being he's getting the cap covered and he's giving up nothing.

Fukijawa was a salary dump. Bassitt was actually a guy I really like (and I assume Brent does as well). Latos is on a one year deal and has an era of 5.5+. Bassitt is a starting pitcher who is at the moment pitching in relief. If Bassitt is in the rotation next season, then Brent's trade makes sense for him here.
I've always liked Bassitt- Villanueva and Fukijawa (salary relief) not so much. He was in the running for a rotation spot this spring. I think you just are not seeing the value in Bassitt that both Brent and I saw? During the season- salary coverage is a moot point. It doesn't matter because it is unlikely that we will be able to use that cap for other stuff. It's more of a staying under game than a give me cap game. Even though there is cap covered, I still take on salary.

I think salary coverage shouldn't be equivalent as nothing in or out of season, it definitely has value and cap can be used to improve teams for the present and future at all points during the season. I asked what Brent's position was... why it helps his team. I just want to know why he wants to do this, and it's his first few days in the league so I think that's okay for me to ask?

You may be confusing Chris Bassitt with Nick Masset, who was recently outrighted to AAA by the Marlins. Were this Masset and not Bassitt, I would completely understand your concern.
How can you use 80M of cap to help you at this point in the season, as opposed to 40M?

Yea I Like Bassit hopefully he comes up big in next few years as a starter in the bigs. I didn't like Latos for that much salary as of now, and he becomes a free agent at the end of the year anyways. If everyone disagrees understandable if it gets vetoed

How can you use 80M of cap to help you at this point in the season, as opposed to 40M? I can't find anything other than the latest report saying that Bassitt was sent to AAA on May 11th because of his okay performance for Oakland... You can use it help with trades, covering cap, like many teams have done. You can also use it to trade for players with higher salaries that can help you during the season. And, it can help him bid on a player that may just show up during the year. It's always useful unless you don't care and do nothing with it.

Veto. Starting Pitchers in this league are worth more than what Noah is giving up. A 1st round pick, a good spec, or a package of pick(s)/spec(s). Instead you've got a bad RP, a young RP that was just sent down, and a sub par spec that isn't doing well this season. Latos has actually had a good season when he's not playing the Braves. In 3 games against the Braves he has given up 14 ER is 7 2/3 innings. In the other 5 games he has given up 11 ER in 33 2/3 innings. He's a SP and your getting cap compensation, you're not giving up enough Noah and I'm pretty sure you would veto this trade if it was another team making this move.
Welcome to the league Brent. There's a better deal out there for Latos if this deal gets vetoed, and it might even be with Noah.

Veto. I think I've explained my reasoning in my previous posts. You can get more Jays. Starting pitchers are very valuable here, both in quality and quantity. (2-2)

Very easy veto here. You can get at least double that for Latos -- I don't even see a piece of value in the deal.

Veto. To act like salary coverage at $11m shouldn't have value is crazy! With Brent being new to the league and this being his first trade I will use my veto to protect him from this deal. SP is worth something and so is salary coverage.
