Seattle gets:
Dakota Chalmers P (spec) Spencer Adams P (spec)
Royals get:
SP Michael Pineda 16: 9.40M Arb A 4 of 7
i am dealing from a position of strength and i get a couple quality young arms that will help me in the future.

I accept. I need starting pitching badly and I feel that Pineda's injury risk is offset by not only his upside but also by the fact that the the two spects that I give up are a long way from making any impact in the big leagues.
Nice dealing Phil.

Allow. Ouch! I like both Adams and Chambers, but I see this as favoring the Royals 70-30.

I don't really like this for Seattle... being Pineda was terrific last season and he doesn't get any MLB return. But the prospects are solid and played well last season... still, neither are top 100 and Pineda is a great starter.
Withholding my vote for now... but I'm not a guaranteed approve here.
Veto. I'm sorry guys... I need to see more going Seattle's way. Another note, I haven't inquired about acquiring PIneda, so that isn't a factor in this veto.

Approve.
The Mariners are also freeing up $9M in cap space before free agency (e.g., could spend that $ on an SP and RP/Bat/ or any combination of things).

I'm going to veto.
Dakota Chalmers had a good year last year, but he wasn't even in A ball. For a 3rd round pick, I don't see him as being valuable (yet). Spencer Adams had a great year last year in A ball and has value to me in this trade. But for a MLB player, who has a power arm, racks up k's, and not only a year ago had a 1.89 ERA in limited time, I can't justify this one.
NOTE: I want everyone to know, I did inquire about acquiring Pineda, and that in no way factored into this veto.

Approve. I hear the Marlins and Rockies point of view on this deal, and my initial thought was similar. However, I have to agree with the Brewers in that freeing up 9M before free agency is another factor in this deal. I personally wouldn't have moved Pineda for what the Mariners got, but it's not vetoable to me.
