Nationals receive: SP CC Sabathia NYY 16: $7M 17: $7M CO OF Josh Hamilton Tex 16: $7M 17:$7M CO
Giants receive: 1B Joey Votto Cin 16: $30M 17: $30M
Giants accept. This puts a huge hole in my already barren pitching staff and I think with Votto it's iffy whether Votto will continue perform with no protection in the Reds lineup, however Votto is an upgrade. I'll be rooting for both Sabathia and Hamilton to find what they once were. Best of luck and thank you for the deal.

Agreed
I hated to lose Votto, but Sabathia and Hamilton give me depth- especially in my rotation. The boost in money available is also something that will help in my teams flexability.
Nationals trade: Joey Votto $30M (16 & 17) to Giants for CC Sabathia $7M (16 & 17) and Josh Hamilton $7M (16 & 17)
thanks for the trade

I think this is a big win for the Giants. Hamilton is 35... and not very good anymore, and almost the same could be said for Sabathia. Meanwhile, San Francisco picks up the projected 12th best hitter in baseball. And the fact that Washington didn't ask for a single one of the Giants' incredible amount of elite prospects.
This is a trade that I would likely potentially not like to approve, but being as it's already 8-0, it doesn't seem to matter. I'd appreciate if people voting would put their reasoning for approves and vetoes.
Thanks!

While Hamilton and Sabathia may not be 'good' anymore, their role guarantees that they can contribute points this year and are not total dead weight. I also do not think Votto is that highly ranked, personally, and his true value likely lies somewhere much less than his $30M contract. The $16M per year satisfies the value gap between the sides granted that the extra budget is put to good use.
