Orioles trade:

RP David Robertson 17: $12M
C Brett Nicholas $300k
5th Round Pick (BAL)

Nationals trade:

1B Ryan Zimmerman 17: $5M, 18: $5M club option
P Erasmo Ramirez 17: $6M (A - 6 of 7)

I had a lot of salary tied up in a few assets, making it difficult to address any needs in free agency. So, I deal from position of depth (RP) to take a flier on a hit-or-miss first baseman in Zimmerman, and take a flier on another wild card in Ramirez as well. Both have low floors and high ceilings. Nats add more of a sure thing in Robertson as a closer.

I accept the trade- got a small amount of depth to move and getting a solid closer like Robertson is a plus and picking up both a draft pick and a prospect catcher are huge for my struggling farm system.
