Phillies trade:
Matt Kemp 2017 - $9.00 (Phils cover 50%) 2018 - $9.00 Myles Jaye (DET) .3
Red Sox trade:
Matt Wisler (ATL) 3 of 7 $0.80 Jorge Bonifacio (KC) $0.30 J.P. Arencibia (TB) B - 7 of 7 $5.30
And so it has begun, rebuilding in Philly. I'm getting a nice return for one of the cornerstones of this franchise for many years. Thanks for the memories Matt. Wisler has some upside but has yet to prove that he can be consistent enough to make an impact in the bigs while Bonifacio is a solid young OF to replace Kemp. We are excited to take on JP, not only to cover cap, but to take on a leadership/coaching role with the Phillies. Like Jake Taylor in Major League 2 we think he'll be a great addition to our coaching staff.
Nice working with you Chris! Best of luck to you the rest of this season!

Red Sox agree
It seems every team in the AL east this year is better than I thought they were gonna be. Some really good owners in this division. Race looks to be a dogfight all year. Kemp is a huge boost to a Red Sox lineup that has struggled out of the gate.
I really like both Wisler and Bonnifacio, and was trying to not part with both, but at the end of the day kemp is likely to give me more production this year and next year, so I felt I had to make the deal.
Nice dealing with you Phillies, good luck on the rebuild......

Veto. Wisler has never proven himself in bigs, and even had struggles in minors. 5.00 ERA last year in bigs, plus 4 ERA 2014 and 2015. Sure, Braves are high on him. But I don't see it. I like Bonifacio. But he's taking on CAP in the deal, and is giving up another spec, for a 500pt (when healthy, keyword healthy, which is only reason this would be an ok deal to me) guy. I'm vetoing

Phillies GM (Zach), could you explain why you didn't try to get more? Just feels like you're taking on salary for free and not quite getting enough for an outfielder of Kemp's caliber on the contract he is. For mine and Marlins GM (Travis) sake. Thanks!

Rockies GM (Alex), oh I've consulted with Zach already. I simply disagree with his assessment and felt he could've and should've gotten more.

I like Bonifacio and his upside plus he's playing well in the bigs right now. Wisler still has room to grow. His stuff is there but yes he needs to learn how to pitch. Everything I've read says the Braves are going to keep giving him these chances and are still really high on him. So, I'm getting 2 guys that are controllable for many years. I don't care about taking cap btw because I'd be paying him this year anyway so eating part of his deal is not a worry to me. On the flip, I'm giving away Kemp. Yes, great talent. Has been great since going to ATL but he is getting older and already hit the DL once this year. I don't think there's a question that Bonifacio is a solid return but I think the question being raised is on Wisler. For me, I think he's got good stuff and playing for a rebuilding team he will get chances to grow and become the quality pitcher he has the potential to be.
Anyway, if it gets vetoed by the league then that's fine. We can try to work something else out.

Approve, to look at it another way, Wisler is 24 with lots of MLB experience already, Bonifacio is also looking pretty interesting at the highest level as well. Given Wisler's 5 years of control, seems pretty fair.
