I hate to deal a young SS and a Man-Bear like Gattis, but badly needed a Starting pitcher, even one that is having some health issues. Get a solid Catcher back in Vogt and replace Swanson with Simmons and belive it or not, actually pick up a draft pick (did you hear that SF and SEA- LOL up for grabs guys) I think its a good deal for both teams each dealing from some depth. thanks for the trade Mike and good luck |

Controllability was key for me, here. Most of my roster is slated to be free agents in one of the next three years, so adding an additional year of control at catcher and more control at the shortstop position was worth moving Gray (I've been fine without him so far), and sacrificing the short-term better production I've gotten from Simmons so far.
