The Padres Receive: SP Vincent Velasquez 3 of 7, .8 P prospect Dylan Cease P prospect Keegan Akin SP Adam Morgan 3 of 7, .8 RP Scott Oberg 2 of 7, .8 1B/3B/OF Andrew Romine .3 (2017)
From the Marlins in return for: SP Jason Vargas 5(2017) (75% Paid by SD) 2B/3B/SS Jedd Gyorko A- 5 of 7, 7.3 (2017) (75% paid by SD) OF Gerardo Parra 1 (2017-2018) (75% 2017 paid by SD)
I accept, gets me some pitching and rounds out my farm. Hurts to lose Gyorko but getting back some arms heading into next year is a return that softens the blow.

I accept. Giving up a top 100 spec, and a former top 100 spec, plus my second round pick last year in this one, to upgrade for a year at SP, and upgrade at SS. Parra is for depth. I'm in it this year, needed a few upgrades to put me over the top, hopefully this works. Tough dealing Denver, you'll fit in nicely here. Glad to have ya.

I feel like the Marlins are sure getting a lot here for just one top 100 prospects... Vargas has been one of the best pitchers this season, Parra is hitting .350, and Gyorko is a valuable hitter as well... not sure yet on this one. But it'll pass anyway.

I agree with Alex on this one...especially since SD is also paying the salaries. I'm going to cast a veto here.

Quite frankly idk how you two veto this trade but not Adrian Gonzales one. He scored 410pts last year, has played 150 games 10 straight years, and has another year on his contract. Plus in 2 months he scored 92pts to Bolsinger 62 all year. He hasn't shown a huge decline, and was simply hurt this year. Yet we can write him off as old, and worthless, and can only get a Mike Bolsinger?! Please. It's a s*** contract. I get it. But 400pts isn't even worth a mediocre spec or 2? And 2 specs on top of it?!!?!

I think a lot had to do with the money part of the deal, not the player part of the deal. I didn't veto it even though it makes it tougher on my team, but I got the idea that the money part of the trade was what people had difficulty with

hey sorry i don't want to bug people but i don't think the Yankees deserve all the criticism you're giving him. Adrian Gonzalez could still be a really good player, however he is getting considerably older and the dodgers have found a better younger player in Bellinger to replace him. In a few reports i've read about him they say he's likely to only have a limited role with the Dodgers, and thus i'm assuming the Yankees thought that ditching 21.60M for this year and next was more beneficial for their currently competing team than keeping him. now they have that money for upcoming free agency or for trades like the one they just made with the Padres. I know the Dodgers can move Bellinger to the OF but it doesn't sound like they want to. So he is likely to just shrink Gonzalez playing time, they could trade Gonzalez, but that just wastes the Yankees time and money if he stays in LA in my opinion. I know people will say i'm saying this because they think i won the trade and maybe i did win the trade but i know from personal experience what being shackled with those types of deals is like and it honestly sucks it limits your ability to make moves to win. ok sorry this was so long i'm done.

Phil, I thought your trade with the Yanks was a decent deal on both ends, you got prospects and a piece that you can use or trade based on what happens with him and He got what I need, so much needed salary relief. Win-Win in my opinion

Kinsler is on pace to get 400pts this year, in his 34 year old season. You're saying I can only get Mike Bolsinger for Ian Kinsler? That's the standard that's been set here with that trade.

Seattle, I get your point. But these are all what ifs. It hasn't happened yet, we're speculating. So with what we know know based on the production prior to injury, and based on last year, that's what we need to go on. That's my point. I traded you Doug Fister earlier this year. That's a dump, he wasn't even signed to a team. I couldn't trade him to you thinking, hey, he'll get signed, I should get some value here. No, pure speculation.

I want to be clear here. By my posts, I in no way, was trying to say the Yanks are a bad owner. I understand what they're doing here. That 21mil will be absolutely huge for next season come this offseason. I'm saying from a league standpoint, for the sake of the league, that trade should've been vetoed. It sets a precedent for older, aging players, and dumping their contracts for nothing. That's my entire point.

And 2 specs on top of it?!!?! I veto this one because you're getting three solid MLB players with their contracts covered. You aren't taking on a lot of money. You aren't taking on aging players. You're getting on one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, an above average third baseman, and an outfielder hitting above .350 on the season when healthy. Who is Denver getting back that makes this deal beneficial for San Diego? One top #100 prospect, three pitchers pitchers with 5+ ERA's, and a utilitly infielder? I hope Velasquez pans out better than he's looked, because I just think San Diego could have gotten better value individually. Vargas alone is worth a top #100 prospect, a 5+ ERA pitcher, and a utility guy.
