This raises the question, can we sign players that are not in MLB? It doesn't explicitly say in the rules we can't, but I always assumed it was there. Rockies GM (Alex)

Players who are free agents have signed, players can be retained despite leaving the MLB also. I made the bid because he met the one requirement listed in that he had the adequate MLB experience. Some discussion on this would make sense though.

No clue... I thought they had to be signed to an MLB team, but we don't force teams to release players that leave for overseas... not sure we really have a rule on this.

Rules currently don't say we can't. This should pass since Will has taken advantage of the way the current rule is. But we should discuss this, as if this player signs with an MLB team next year, that could have a big effect on the league, like a Thames. I'm simply saying other teams should have an opportunity to sign him if he comes to MLB, and with Will taking an early flier on him, teams aren't as active now as they would be during FA, so other teams aren't really given the opportunity.
