GM's were selected based on the moves they made that improved them from year to year. Consequently, teams that were already powerhouses in the previous year were not considered above teams that came from the bottom to the top.
2017 American League GM of the Year
Jerry - GM, New York Yankees 2016 Record: 8-11 2017 Record: 16-3
After finish just 8-11 in 2016 and in the bottom five in the AL in scoring, no one quite expected the season the Yankees had in 2017. GM Jerry guided his slightly above .500 projected team with a 50% chance to make the post-season to start the year to a 16-3 season where New York nearly took the AL East Division. The Yankees have some of the best depth in baseball, with a plethora of youthful talent surrounded by great veterans. New York drew the unlucky straw and fell to Los Angeles in the first round of the playoffs. But Jerry has this team on a path to be a strong AL contender for the foreseeable future. Nice work, Jerry!
2017 National League GM of the Year
Das - GM, San Francisco Giants 2016 Record: 9-10 2017 Record: 15-4
9-10. 4,804.7 points. 15-4. 6,963.5 points. The San Francisco Giants made a more than 2,000 point turnaround from the 2016 season to 2017. GM Das has set a new standard for the league in his drafting process and success in turning these players into production at the major league level. It seems we have the makings of a potential elite run in the making, much like Los Angeles has put together in the American League. The Giants ultimately fell short in the NLCS by just 20 points for a bid at their first World Series, but with the way this team has been run since Das entrance into the league, they'll find their way soon enough. Great job, Das!

Thank you. I really enjoyed building this team from the worst franchise in the league to one that is now being looked at a future dynasty.
For anyone saying the we need more competitive balance, I point to the Giants. There is no current team that is worse shape than the Giants when I came into this league. I might step on some toes with this, but I find that people in general are far to willing to give less than an effort to be their best. Some teams in this league can't figure out how to fill out a ESPN roster let alone try to compete, so it makes rebuilding really easy. Some teams can't figure how to make their draft picks. So, I look at that and say, well it doesn't take anything special to fill out a roster, than it's pretty easy to make a selection in the draft, so automatically I'm going to be better than those teams. From there it's just a matter of playing the game that I want to play in the first place, so really, if you have a losing team, maybe your just a fish trying to climb a tree. At least that is the mentally that I take into the game, I'm far to proud to tank when I know without a shadow of a doubt that there is no reason to willingly be pathetic, to each their own. I get that this might be coming off differently than I imagine in my mind, so I will wrap up and say, that I wish everyone the best in their efforts to build a team that reflects the vision they are trying to achieve.
